Club president, Noel Leckie, is hoping changes in the format of the day will attract more patrons and more horses. “We have increased prizemoney levels to almost $20k for the 5 races in an attempt to attract more runners. As importantly, we are endeavouring to attract more people to come out and enjoy the day”, said Leckie.

For the convenience of catering for your picnic group, trestle tables & seating will be located under a constructed shade area on the bank to the east of the winning post for $100 ($80 for a second table and $70 for a third). Additional outdoor seating will be available. To further enhance this area there will be a bar and food outlets, however everyone is welcome to pack a picnic basket with their favorite goodies. Entertainment in the form of a guitar/vocalist, plus activities for the younger ones provided by Sparkles the Clown, will further add to the carnival atmosphere. A touch of glamour with the always popular Fashions of the Field will no doubt appeal to those dressing to impress.

This day is designed to provide something for everyone looking for a fun and affordable day at the track, plus a great excuse to get a group of friends together to enjoy a great time with the rest of the Scone community and their guests.

The feature race of the day will be the Scone Veterinary Practice Picnic Cup, an open handicap over 1600m worth $4,500.
