 Constant fight for our resources

Constant fight for our resources

23 Jun, 2011 11:42 AM
I read with interest all the letters about Santos and gas exploration in and around Scone.

There is but two questions:

1. Can Santos guarantee 100 per cent that they will not affect ground water?

2. We can buy food and fuel from overseas but where the hell do we buy water from?

No company can guarantee the safety of our water systems.

Our council should get behind their rate payers and join them in protecting our land and the value of said land, granted most of us do not own the mineral rights under our land but that does not give anyone the moral right to de-value the land above when the landholders have paid premium prices and rates for their land and increased the value of the land.

Why are we constantly fighting to protect what is ours, first the out dated technology of the wind farm and now gas exploration that threatens to ruin our ground water supplies.
