Businesses make a splash

The wetter the better was the theme at the Scone Business House Relay last Friday night when Richardson Eventing proved they were super fish taking out the championship title.

The team, made up of the Richardson family and grandparents, took the title out of a pool of finalists including Warner’s Whales, Freshwater Paddlers, Define Style, Shire Sharks and Invermein Incredibles.

Warner’s Whales were in close second and Freshwater Paddlers came in third place.

The 2012 relay was held in usual good spirits, with teams capturing the spirit of the event dressing up and enjoying themselves.

A total 24 teams were sponsored for this year’s event and with 22 teams swimming on the night; the numbers were an increase on last year.

About $3000 was raised through the relay and a big raffle supported by local businesses and the Scone War Memorial Swimming Pool.

The funds, along with sponsorship, will see a new public announcement system installed at the pool in the next couple of weeks.

Scone Swimming Club secretary Kath Meier said despite the wet weather, everyone enjoyed another really successful event.

“It was a really good night, everything ran smoothly and everyone had fun,” Meier said.

“We’d like to thank all the businesses and schools that supported the event, as well as all the volunteers who helped out.”

The winners of the dash for cash were Ebony Taylor in the female category and Tom Heaton in the male category.
