Great technique, fabulous fitness and savvy match play are just three pre-requisites of a great tennis player according to visiting tennis coach, Dean Trembath.
The Sydney based tennis coach has been teaching tennis across the Upper Hunter for more than twenty years and was in Scone and Murrurundi last week to coach budding young tennis players the finer points of the game.
“You definitely need to have the basic techniques, good fitness and an understanding of match play,” Mr Trembath said.
He said the two clinics he had run over the Easter holidays had been surprisingly popular.
“We had an excellent enrolment of 40 players registered for coaching in Scone and 16 players in Murrurundi.
Mr Trembath said he hoped the young players would also learn to enjoy the game of tennis.
“It’s a game for life and a great opportunity for kids to spend 3.5 hours a day outside.”
The next round of coaching with Mr Trembath is scheduled for the July school holidays.
The Scone Tennis Club are looking for interested players to join a junior tennis competition next term from 4pm Monday afternoons.
