Committee insight

If you live in a rural community for long enough, there is a good chance someone will nominate you to join a committee.

For those with no experience as an office bearer or committee member, a seminar coming to Murrurundi next month may be for you.

Upper Hunter Shire community services officer Heather Ranclaud said the seminar would be particularly useful to clubs considering becoming incorporated.

“If your group is incorporated or considering incorporation, this is a perfect seminar to understand your rights and legal responsibilities.

“There are also responsibilities you need to be aware of if your group fundraises or manages.

“If you just want a better understanding of your obligations as a public officer or committee member then come along,” Ms Ranclaud said.

The Department of NSW Fair Trading will conduct the free Incorporated Associations seminar at the Murrurundi library meeting room on Monday, May 7 from 1p to 3pm. To find out more contact Ms Ranclaud on 6540 1326.
