Bull riders head to town

Scone will host an extreme action packed night of superstar match ups between the best and most accomplished bull riders from around Australia.

A Pro Series Professional Bull Riding (PBR) Event will be held at the White Park Rodeo Complex on Saturday October 13.

The event will be part of an Australia wide series, where riders accumulate points which count towards the major cup and international events.

Money and points accumulated by each competitor during the PBR Touring Pro Series count towards the multi-million dollar World Finals held each year in Las Vegas, for which the Australian champions receives and automatic wildcard entry.

PBR will run the bull riding event and Upper Hunter Shire Council will coordinate and manage all other aspects of the event.

Council has underwritten $200,000 for redevelopment of White Park to allow it to host events such as this.

Community and service groups as well as sporting associations will have an opportunity to express their interest in being involved with the event.

Upper Hunter Shire mayor Lee Watts said this is exciting news for Scone.

“Scone is set to witness some edge of its seat sporting entertainment which I imagine will be of great appeal to a large number of people both locally and from around the shire,” Cr Watts said.

“We are delighted that the PBR Association has chosen to include Scone on their annual Pro Circuit.”
