A DAY at the races can be fun for the whole family, just don’t forget to keep an eye on the kids.
Scone Race Club chief executive officer Sarah Wills said parents taking their children along to this week’s Scone Cup should be aware of the licensing laws.
“All minors under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times while they are at the races,” Ms Wills said. “The race course is a licensed premise. It is just like going into a bar, the same rules apply,” Ms Wills said.
As part of those rules, Ms Wills said unaccompanied minors will be asked to leave the racecourse by security staff.
“We will have security staff set up at the gate entry who will be checking IDs and wristbanding over 18s.
“It is a good idea to get age verification to prevent being turned away from the bar”.
“Of course we want people to bring their families along to the Scone Cup this Friday and Saturday, but we also want people to remember to keep their children with them at all times,” Ms Wills said.
