The Upper Hunter Shire Council is entering a team in the games which will be held at Lake Macquarie from December 6 to 11.
This year is the first time the games have been held in the Southern Hemisphere and are a perfect opportunity for local athletes to participate.
Dubbed as the largest multi-sport youth games in the world, the International Children’s Games are a recognised member of the International Olympic Committee.
The games will see more than 1500 athletes and coaches from more than 80 cities and 33 countries competing in a range of sports.
The council is calling on athletes aged 12, 13, 14 or 15 to nominate for a position to take part in athletics, swimming, soccer or golf.
The council can only send 18 athletes and six officials or coaches, so a selection process will be followed.
Nomination forms can be obtained from the council’s Scone office or by contacting Nicky Western on 0414 806 074 or emailing nwestern@upperhunter.nsw.gov.au
Nominations close on Friday, May 9.
