The 17-year-old recently returned from a trip to Los Angeles to take part in the Tempest Pro Takeover – a training day with 33 of the top athletes in the sport.
More than 200 athletes converged on the event from 14 countries across the world and Vaughan was fortunate to be invited.
Vaughan, from Timor, has been practicing the sport for about six years since he started teaching himself with the assistance of worldwide athletes through You Tube.
The Scone Grammar School year 12 student, with others, provided a demonstration at the recent Youth Beat Music Festival.
Vaughan explained the sport is a study of acrobatic movement from point A to point B that first started in France in the 1980s, and these days it has developed into a sport where people have added creative acrobatics such as front flips, back flips, double side flips and more.
Parkour is not only a sport, but it is used extensively for stunts in movies and clothing advertisements.
Vaughan said the tour overseas was probably one of the greatest moments of his life so far as he was able to meet some of the people that inspired him to start the sport.
With a clear passion to spread his love of the sport and creativity, Vaughan said he is looking to expand into teaching Parkour to others as he has started teaching it locally to taekwondo students.
Being a taekwondo black belt himself, Vaughan draws on a lot of these skills to help with his Parkour training, however he said the movement depends a lot on plyometric and flexibility.
“It’s all about the discipline and bettering yourself with the support of the worldwide network as everyone shares videos and gives each other feedback,” he said.
“Not too many people know about it, but you can become qualified with the Australian Parkour Association.”
Vaughan said he is currently working on a video to submit to a Red Bull Art of Motion event in Greece and one day he would love to go himself.
