Debbie and Sandy Racklyeft established the Satur Veterinary Clinic 24 years ago and have treated thousands of animals, taken on over 100 work experience students, employed 10 veterinarians and many more support staff over that time.
Veterinarian Sandy Racklyeft said the decision to sell the business had been extremely difficult.
“Debbie retired two years ago to devote more time to caring for her aged parents.
“Our two children Jack (18) and Annie (16) are now both in Sydney studying, so it feels like it is the right time for me to retire and for some new blood to take over.”
The mixed animal side of the practice, Satur Veterinary Clinic, was sold to Irish born veterinarian Andrew McClenahan.
His brother Richard McClenahan purchased the equine side of the business two years ago, which is known as the Dartbrook Equine Veterinary Clinic.
“We are both so happy to be able to leave the business and our clients in such capable hands.
“Richard and Andrew are young, competent and enthusiastic and will do great things with the practice,” Mr Racklyeft said.
In the meantime, Mr Racklyeft said he looked forward to spending more time with family, travelling and doing odd jobs around the house.
“Debbie and I love living in Scone and will continue to do so.
“We want to thank all of our clients, colleagues and staff that have worked for us over the years and helped us to build the practice to what it is today.
“It has been a wonderful lifestyle and we have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the community and such a positive working environment that we will both greatly miss.
“Although, I am looking forward to not being on call,” he said.
