Arnott was joined by fellow NSW players Jack Cruickshank and Isaac Farmilo and Hockey NSW regional coaching coordinator Blair Chalmers to offer a skills clinic for local under 11s and under 16s players.
About 60 youngsters took part in the clinic, which was initiated after interest from local coaches and players.
Chalmers said the aim of the clinic was to implement some of the core fundamentals to the children, such as the hockey position, ‘get, give and go’ and upright trapping.
“It’s good to highlight that there are elements of grass hockey that benefit the learning of these skills, especially trapping the ball,” Chalmers said.
“This is a new initiative here in Scone and it’s great as some of the players may not have been exposed to elite coaches before.
“It is part of a training program we are running across the state,” he said.
“We hope to do more with Scone Hockey Association in the future.”
Scone Hockey Association president Gary Davis said this was the first time they had held a Hockey NSW clinic in Scone and he was quite pleased with how it went.
“It’s good to have trained and accredited coaches teaching the children and giving them and our local coaches new ideas,” he said.
