The Scone boys started Sunday’s game well to take a 10-0 lead early on after two tries down the left edge to Harrison and Eveleigh.
Greta hit back with a try of their own to see the score go to 10-6 at the halftime break.
Scone started the second half well with some good completions.
Half way through the second half Joel Harrison swooped on a loose ball and raced 90 metres to score a great try. The score went to 16-6.
With 20 minutes to go Scone let Greta score two tries to take an 18-16 lead.
With not long left Scone received a penalty in front of the posts and took the shot at goal to level things up at 18 all.
The game went into golden point extra time with both teams taking multiple shots at a field goal only to be unsuccessful.
In the 93rd minute Greta crashed over for a try from close range to seal the game and a home grand final.
Scone were left disappointed not to win, especially after leading 16-6 at one stage of the game.
Scone now take on Denman at Scone Park this Sunday at 3pm in the preliminary final.
Special mention goes to all the supporters who turned out on Sunday and we hope to see you down there again this weekend to get the boys home.
In the reserve grade match, Scone came up against Singleton in the major semi final.
This is what captain Henry Wicks said:
After having nearly three weeks off we were definitely keen for this one.
We knew this was going to be a hard physical game so our defence had to be on the money.
We started well with a quick try to Josh Watson.
After a bit of back and forth footy, Singleton were soon on the board as well.
For the majority of the first half we tackled, through our own fault due to lack of respect with the footy and ill-discipline.
When we finally got the footy we were able to score again through some second phase play and Michael Rolfe was able to run away to score a few minutes before half time.
The second half was unfortunately much the same as the first half.
It felt like all we did was tackle.
Singleton were able to put another try on us taking the score to 12-8 our way.
When we got the ball we slowly crawled our way back towards beer tent corner and were able to cross the line through Justin Hall.
We went on to win the game 16-8 and progress into the grand final.
The defence and courage the boys showed on Sunday was awesome to see and it was obvious that everyone was willing to put their body on the line to get us to the big one.
Michael Rolfe was unreal all game, as was Jack Dawson in the middle.
Danny Peters was great for us at the back.
Player’s player went to centre Josh Watson.
A massive shout out to Fang (Jake) Bailey who hardly stopped in our game then went on to play big minutes in first grade.
Thanks to the big crowd that turned out on the day and best of luck to the ladies tag and first grade boys this weekend.
