The Scone based tourism employee has won the Accommodation Association of Australia Employee of the Year.
Ms Carter works permanent part time as a senior member on the house keeping team at Scone Motor Inn, where she has been employed for more than 10 years.
She is currently studying a Certificate III in Hospitality Management and Tourism, and has also taken on a supervisor role at the motel.
After being a finalist in the competition last year and competing against 14 other employees this year, Ms Carter was very excited and proud to be named the winner.
Winners of the annual awards were announced in recent weeks at a special gala event at the Sofitel Wentworth where Scone Motor Inn also won the Australian Learning and Development Property of the Year (for less than 50 rooms).
Ms Carter said she was honoured that Trevor and Joanne (Scone Motor Inn owners) had nominated her again as it was a handy addition to her resume.
“I’m proud of my achievement, but it also shows we have a special work environment, it’s not just about me it’s about everybody,” Ms Carter said.
“I enjoy my job, its flexibility and my good work mates; we have lots of fun but also work hard.
“I’d like to thank Joanne and Trevor for the nomination and the support, as well as the hard work of the other staff to make it a special place to work,” she said.
Mr Kratzmann said there were many reasons they decided to nominate Kay for the award again as she has been a stand out employee for quite a few years, hence the promotion to a supervisor role.
“Kay always goes above and beyond what’s expected and she has always been there for us when we’ve needed her,” he said.
“I’d also like to recognise the rest of the team as all our staff are special and work together as a great team.”
