The Ladies League Tag were up against the Muswellbrook Rams, who they hadn’t beaten through the round games.
We knew, just like every other week, we had to approach this game with an open mind as it was anyone’s playing field.
Within the first five minutes Scone were on the back burn as Muswellbrook scored a try.
We had plenty of time so we remained positive, calm and confident as we hit back at Muswellbrook. Muswellbrook weren’t easy to break through as they displayed some strong defence, but we received a penalty close to the line and from some hard running Mel Carrigan received an inside ball of Sofie Casson to get the girls over.
The half time hooter went and the score was 6-6.
In the second half Camilla Clydsdale put in a ripper of a kick for the Scone side to chase down.
The Scone ladies were determined to keep the Muswellbrook side from breaking our blue and white wall and with some outstanding defence from all the girls this was achieved.
Roughly 10 minutes into the second half, Abbey Van Balen made a fierce line break running 40 metres, with support she was able to offload to Sofie Casson, running the rest of the way to score under the black dot.
The Scone girls remained complacent as there was plenty of time for Muswellbrook to change the score, but with some breathtaking and remarkable defence Scone kept the score at 12-6.
Maddy Adams was able to convert both the tries.
This was a really big team effort by all the girls as each one played outstanding.
We would just like to say a massive thank you to all the support given on the day.
We now face Singleton in the grand final to be held at Greta this Sunday.
