Only four months from now, will our young people be at risk, driving tiredly home on the highways from other lonely beaches, their surfboards on the roof, because the Newcastle Station has just been closed forever?
What horrific waste.
We would never again go to the beach between trains, for a health break.
Changing to a bus at a shed in Wickham puts an extra 40 minutes of city traffic onto the day!
We now have three transport interchanges working smoothly at three stations, with train, bus, taxi and ferry to Stockton.
It’s worked for 130 years.
Not broke, don’t fix.
People are sad to have missed the protest on August 20.
Don’t worry, come on Saturday at 10.30am to Civic Park, Newcastle.
A whole rising movement under the title “The Hunter Deserves Better” is convening a family style meeting at Civic Park, to put positive directions to government and rescue the situation.
We will leave on the 6.38am train from Scone, breakfast at Pacific Street and walk on the beach before going to the meeting either on foot or by train back to Wickham.
