This in itself was truly an amazing feat considering they went up two grades this year to C grade.
Over the past few years they have consistently improved, been very competitive throughout and have taken on the never give up attitude that has moulded the team into a major team worthy of all accolades.
Their unbeaten streak finally came to an end during the year, which totalled 26 consecutive games without a loss.
This achievement was enough to secure the minor premiership by only one point.
On Saturday they travelled to Bellbird to take on Kotara in what would be another epic battle.
After a barrage of early pressure and several corners, the team finally succumb to a goal mouth scramble and went behind 1 nil after a deflection into the net.
By half time the tide was starting to turn and some well-constructed coaching chatter during the break, enabled Scone to finally start to play and apply the pressure during the second half.
The goal finally came from Alex Catzikiris who was at the end of a through ball from Patrick Tillemans and after heading and controlling the ball in the one motion, slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to level the scores.
The next 15 minutes would prove very tense and exhausting, with the team applying all the pressure and field position but unable to follow up with the winning goal.
Unfortunately with only three minutes left on the clock, Kotara had one last raid on goal and from a bouncing ball from the right side managed to pick out a player at the back post.
The goalkeeper, Blair Jackson, who tried desperately to block the ball and did get a hand on it, was unfortunately unable to stop the ball going into the corner of the goal and handing Kotara a grand final win 2-1.
It was a game filled with plenty of emotion, lots of pressure, skill and class, exhausted players, stressed coaches from both sides and of course a touch of luck.
All in all it was a truly fantastic grand final played in the best spirit of the game.
Well done to the team for their effort.
Thanks to all the parents, grandparents, friends and family who supported the team on the day and throughout the year.
A big thankyou also to the coaches Jamie Catzikiris and Ronnie Tillemans for their time and effort with the team.
