The Mixed 3s was played between David, Reg and Emily Riley and Di Pund, Lance Munn and Ken Katon.
This game would have to be one of the best mixed championships ever witnessed at the club.
The scores were level for the best part of the game, and only favoured one team after the 19th end. Team Riley held their breath as Ken had a drive on end 20.
Bang! He killed the end.
Team Riley got two shots on the replay of the end and the score was 23/18 with one end left to play.
Team Katon held two shots with David holding third shot and Ken having the next best three shots. Ken played a weighted shot to try to take David’s bowl out but missed.
The final score was Team Riley 23 to Team Katon 20.
Congratulations to Emily, Reg and David who teamed up together to play the Mixed Triples for the first time after Emily decided to join the Scone Ladies Club a few months ago so that she could participate in the mixed.
Reg was a bit emotional after the game, being Father’s Day and winning with his two children was a great present.
This weekend is the club’s Master Pairs tournament.
Come along and enjoy some great bowls from all over the state.
