It was a very successful weekend of golf at Scone with a good field on Saturday to contest the Hunter Valley Printing Cup and near capacity field on Sunday to contest the Scone Men’s Open.

With the course perfectly prepared the players showed their skills with some great scores.
On Saturday Sue Watts had a field day taking out the major trophy with Justin Smart with 36 points, plus both the ladies nearest the pins.
Ross and Lyn Banks took home the Stableford event with a great score of 44 points on a countback from Neil and Cheryl Clydsdale, and Glen Tarrant and Bill Napper won the men’s FBBB event with a terrific 49 points.
On Sunday the opportunity to win a new car attracted a great field with 89 players all out to win.
Col Solway went the closest with 2.87m so the Mazda was taken back to the showroom. Local golfer Nathan Waters showed a clean pair of heels to the opposition to take out the 2014 Scone Open with a terrific 67 to win by six shots from Muswellbrook golfer Kymble Pascoe.
Ross Banks had a good weekend taking out A Grade with 38 points from Rod Spratt (37), George Betts (36) and Phil Ledgerwood also 36.
Tom Foster (39) won B Grade from Dave Parkinson (Kurri), John Bourke (Muswellbrook) and Chris Waters.
Tim Lanyon 39 (Muswellbrook) won C Grade from Neil Clydsdale, Bob Thorley (Denman) and Robert Ryan (Aberdeen).
Nearest the pins went to Cliff Cooper, a near hole in one 20cm on the 2nd, Dave Peachey 3.62 on the 8th, George Betts 0.71 on the 11th and Col Solway on the 17th.
Longest drives went to Tom Bateman, Robert Colbert and Lindsay Hodge.
