Following the National Polocrosse Championships held in Darwin the club had a small but enthusiastic contingent compete at the Maitland Carnival in July.
Our ladies team won the C Grade women’s final with Leah Wilson picking up the Best No 2.
At the Galloping Gully Carnival in August, Andrew Rose, Jack Halsted, Joe Wamsley, Sarah Finlayson, and Mitch and Brad Wamsley won the B Grade Open with Andrew Rose winning the Best No 1.
The Gulgong Carnival was the last of the season for the majority of Bunnan players.
Kaylene Wilson and Sarah Finlayson teamed up with four junior players Abbey and Leah Wilson, Anastasia Martin and Jodie Cutler to take runners up in the B Grade women’s division.
Sarah Finlayson won the Best B Grade Horse and Rider.
Meanwhile Bunnan’s open team of Andrew Rose, Stephen Sinderberry, Lewis Wall, Jack Halsted, Campbell Rose and Tegan Cornish won the C Grade division.
Bunnan sub-junior players, Clancy and Nicole Martin, April Lawler and Jilly Rose played well to take out runners up in their grade.
The Bunnan Club has had a strong junior and sub-junior base for many years, but for the first time in quite a while the club now has a growing number of young players in the 18 to 30 years age group. This year the club welcomed new recruits, Sally Beer, Courtney Martin, Tom Rossington and Lewis Wall and judging by their enthusiasm the club looks forward to seeing them develop as players and hopefully have a long association with the club.
Well done to our senior players who once again were willing mentors to our younger or less experienced players throughout the year.
Congratulations to Joe Wamsley and Abbey Wilson who represented NSW in a junior team that played four test matches in Western Australia during the last school holidays.
NSW proved too strong winning all four games.
The club is holding its annual general meeting at Scone RSL Club this Saturday at 11am – all welcome.
