The 20-year-old local lad set himself up with a nine man break away just one kilometre into the 273 kilometre race and at one stage he sustained an 11 minute lead over the main field.
Although the gap closed a little during the final last 90 minutes of cycling, the athletic youngster managed to remain victorious.
Hill was the youngest competitor in this year’s race, which is Australia’s longest one day classic and the second longest race in the world after Milan to San Remo.
His brother, Ben, also cycled in the race, as well as many others including Commonwealth Games medallists.
With the two sprint primes and the King of the Mountains at Camperdown on offer, Hill took the first sprint 110 kilometres in, then the King of the Mountains and he was unchallenged at the second sprint point, so he took all the jerseys.
Hill is a member of the Paradice Investment cycling team, which he has been cycling with for the past two years.
Although this is his greatest success to date, Hill has several wins to be proud of throughout the past two years including the 2012 Under 19 NSW Hill-Climb, the 2012 Under 19 Heinrich Haussler Tour Stage 2, the 2012 Goulburn 2 Citi Div 2 Criterium, the 2013 Peter van Gynt Scratch Race Div 2, the 2013 Bathurst Criterium Div 2 and the 2013 Men’s Central Division Road Championships.
Hill said it felt totally unreal to win the jerseys, but he wasn’t convinced he had won anything until he crossed the finish line.
“Once I crossed that line and heard my name come across the loud speaker, it was incredible.
“To accomplish something in the national series was just amazing,” he said.
Hill said the most challenging part of the race was between the 150km and 200km marks when he had to drive the break hard for about 50km.
He is now busy training for the Australian Championships to be held in Ballarat in January.
