Campdrafters travelled from near and far to compete in the annual event, which after being postponed back in August due to rain, definitely turned up the heat on the weekend.
All the action started on Saturday morning with the Horse Power Maiden draft judged by Joe Burges.
Although the points were a little slow to start, by the finish there were some great scores on the board with four competitors Josh Barnett, Wade Miles, Grant Whatham and Jayden Dorney all on equal first with a score of 88.
Next it was onto the Peel Valley Machinery Open draft with Brett Schiffmann judging.
Wade Miles and Adam Sadler both had great runs to finish equal first on 88 points and Doug Jamieson and Brandon Wood coming in equal second on 86.
The top finalists were calcuttered on Saturday evening, along with the auction of a sealed copy of the Real Housewives of Scone calendar, launched on Friday night, which raised $400 for breast cancer research.
The third draft on Saturday was the Park Lucerne Ladies, which was judged by Grant Whatham.
On Sunday morning, drafters went into the dust to battle the cattle with the Wamsley Partnership and Kerembla Novice, judged by Andrew Chapman.
Grant Whatham and Jewel had a great day with a 90 for first place to narrowly edge out Tammy Nairne and Black Jack, and himself and Finesse on 88.
The Ansure Juveniles draft was next to run followed by the Scone Pastoral Junior draft and the Kate Mailer Junior Cut-out.
The finals of the maiden, novice and open concluded a very busy weekend.
Wingen Campdraft secretary Emma Sharpe said the committee would like to thank all competitors and volunteers who made the weekend such an enjoyable event, as well as their very generous sponsors.
“We would also like to thank the cattle donors, including Haggerty Partnership, Neil Bruce, Wamsley Partnership, Scone Pastoral, Chatham, Cooksey family, Sharpe family, Fernandes family and Jeff Shaw, without whom the competition could not go ahead.”
“ A big thanks goes to the Wamsley’s who carted cattle all weekend, and to Lauren Parkinson and her father James who were a tremendous help in the canteen over the weekend.
“The campdraft will contribute towards Lauren’s chosen charity Riding for the Disable in her quest for Rodeo Queen.
“Our back yard boys did a terrific job all weekend.
“We would like to express a sincere thanks and appreciation to the village of Wingen for their contributions and assistance.”
