Representative players visited from Tamworth, Singleton and Muswellbrook to play in a round robin style of carnival against each other and the local Scone representative athletes. 

The carnival was the first of its kind in Scone and aimed to be a useful training day for the children, without finals. 

The Scone Under 10 boys were a standout for the day as they beat Singleton Under 10 boys by about 10 tries.

The Scone Under 10 boys development team, who are mainly seven and eight-year-olds, also played really well and beat the Singleton Under 10 girls in the first time they have ever played together as a team.  

The Under 12 girls had a very close game with Muswellbrook and just lost in the last few seconds.  

They also lost one nil to a very well drilled Tamworth Under 12 girls team, but coach Wayne Hedley thinks they will improve on their         performance.

The Under 14 boys had to play older teams as no-one else in the area has an Under 14 boys team.  

They only lost by one try to Muswellbrook Under 16 boys, so were very happy with their performance.  

Aaron Watts put a team of footy players together to give Muswellbrook Under 16 boys a good hit-out before the Gosford carnival next month.  

They actually beat Muswellbrook, three to two, in a very fast game.  

NSW Touch development officer Quinn Waitaka came up to referee some games, but managed to get himself into the team of footy players when they played their next game against Tamworth.  

Scone’s Under 14 girls started the day with a one all draw with Muswellbrook, which they were very excited about.  

They went on to win all of their games despite playing three games in a row in the heat.

Organiser Nicky Western said the carnival had to be called off before the last games as it had reached the limit for their heat policy, but everyone enjoyed the morning and complimented Terry Coombes from the Upper Hunter Shire Council on the standard of the complex.
