The skies may have been rumbling but that didn’t dampen the spirits of the droves of community members that rolled into the Aberdeen Rose Garden on Saturday for the annual Twilight Christmas Markets and Carols.

The crowd of about 200 people started early and enjoyed a great evening, and when the much anticipated rain did come, the carols were simply moved into the Aberdeen Community Hall and all sang on.
A huge range of market stalls saw everything from baby wear to allergy free foods to conserves, candles and more up for grabs, so you could even start or finish your Christmas shopping on the night.
Children enjoyed face painting by Sparkles the Clown and helpers, a jumping castle, a visit from Santa and the carols with the Scone Singers and Aberdeen Public School students.
The event was organised by the Aberdeen Neighbourhood Centre for the community to enjoy the spirit of Christmas and gather together during the festive period.
Aberdeen Neighbourhood Centre staff member and event organiser Jaala Presland said they were so pleased to see lots of people come along for a look, with some getting in well before stall holders had even finished setting up their stalls.
“A few people were just passing through on the highway and pulled in to see what was going on,” Mrs Presland said.
“Everyone that stopped by assisted in creating a wonderful atmosphere.”
She said while they would love to generate a large amount of funds to assist in the services they provide at the centres through events such as the Twilight Markets, the event was organised to bring the community together to celebrate the Christmas spirit.
“We must thank the Upper Hunter Shire Council for sponsoring the event,” she said.
“A huge thank you also goes to the market stall holders, the Scone Singers and Aberdeen students, Aberdeen Lions Club and everyone else who helped or came along to make the event a success.
“May your Christmas be magical and your New Year spectacular.”
