Minister for Communications Malcolm Turnbull dropped in to Scone last Thursday as part of a communications tour, to find out whether the new service was making a difference to local residents’ internet access.
Pays Air Service owner Ross Pay said he was impressed with the service since connecting to NBN in December.
“We are at the end of the line for ADSL so we had lots of drop outs before hooking into the new NBN fixed wireless service.
“We use a lot of iCloud software applications as part of our business, and we’re having to log in repeatedly to download.
“For those of us out of town and a bit further away from the exchange, we’ve noticed a great improvement to our connection speed and we are no longer having dropouts,” he said.
Minister for Communications Malcolm Turnbull said he was glad communication services had been improved in Scone and hoped more would connect to the NBN service.
“The NBN fixed wireless tower in Scone caters for up to 243 connections.
“Thirty one premises have already signed up, but it would be great to see more homes and businesses connect to the NBN and receive the benefits of faster broadband,” Mr Turnbull said.
