No one is keener than Rod Northam’s daughter, Molly, to see Bright Moon Night continue on his winning way and hitting the line hard in the Hinchinbrook @ Yarraman Park Benchmark 55 (1600m) at Scone tomorrow.

She also hopes her father’s opinion that the four-year-old will later develop into a middle distance galloper comes true.
The future for Bright Moon Night, once he has finished racing, is already decided.
He is Molly’s horse and he will be her next eventing horse.
It was because of Molly’s impatience to start eventing that Bright Moon Night was conceived.
Bright Moon Night is out of a mare called Heartlove that Northam trained to win one race, a Quirindi maiden.
“After I retired the mare I told Molly she could have her as an eventing horse,” Northam said.
“Molly was too young at the time but impatient to get going and I had to slow her down somehow so I put the mare into foal to Where’s That Tiger.
“Molly is now riding Heartlove but she will be ready to be retired by the time Bright Moon Night’s racing career ends.
“Molly loves show jumping but really loves eventing.”
Bright Moon Night has been a model of consistency since Northam fitted blinkers, winning his last two starts at Quirindi and Gunnedah and before that scoring five successive placings.
“He is a good, consistent country horse,” Northam said.
While the future of Bright Moon Rising is settled Greg Bennett is confident that Settle The Future has a future as a middle distance galloper and that will be put to the test in the Zizou @ Turangga Farm Benchmark 60 over 2200 metres.
The horse ran second over 1850 metres at Newcastle at his last start, coming from second last on the turn along the rail and momentarily hitting the lead before being grabbed late by the winner Bee Plus.
Settle The Future is by Reset and owned by the same interests at the Bennett trained Pro Consul, also by Reset.
“Settle The Future had been in the paddock for two years and because I had been successful with Pro Consul the owners asked me to have a go with this horse,” Bennett said.
“He is a six-year-old who has only had 10 starts and he is a big, strong horse bred to be a stayer and he relaxes in his races.
“The horse will be going to the paddock after this race.”
Also headed to the paddock is the Bennett trained Sebring Style which runs in the Dane Shadow @ Kitchwin Hills Maiden (1600m).
She was well in the market when she ran fourth at Muswellbrook but ran into trouble in the straight.
