It’s a bit late he says but it has been decided to delay it until after the State Elections.
How very convenient that the mayor will then not be caught up in a position he may not want promulgated before then.
He has publically supported extraction and exploration in the shire, with the usual qualifications.
It seems Johnsen is an expert fence sitter and would not want to jeopardise the vote of the powerful thoroughbred industry or alienate the local mining community.
So he has a bit each way and just ends up alienating most of the agricultural sector and those who want to make sure that this shire is always mine free and CSG free....a rural haven.
It seems that the National Party is just becoming the political arm of the extractive industries giving powerful lobbyists like Stephen Galilee an influential voice.
So much for democracy.
