The proactive committee are holding a fun event to raise funds for the cause, one instigated by fellow cricketing enthusiast and legend Glenn McGrath.
The club will stump up for an exciting Pink Stumps Day this Saturday when the Under 10s and Under 12s team will play along with a barbecue lunch and cake stall.
The day will be held at Jefferson Park in Aberdeen from 8.30am with the barbecue from 11am.
Pink Stumps Day is officially held on February 21 each year to give cricket clubs, community groups, businesses, and schools the opportunity to bring the magic of the Pink Test into their community to raise money for the McGrath Foundation.
Now in it’s 10th year, the initiative is working towards the goal of increasing the number of McGrath Breast Care Nurses across Australia to 110 to support 10,000 families this year.
McGrath Foundation ambassador and director Tracy Bevan said Pink Stumps Day will play a vital role in reaching this goal.
“Our McGrath Breast Care Nurses are at the heart of what we do at the foundation, and together, they’ve helped to support over 30,000 Australian families.
“We’re encouraging everyone to get behind Pink Stumps Day and make this our biggest and pinkest yet, in our 10th year,” she said.
Aberdeen Junior Cricket Club representative Fiona Tickle said they have already had two successful Pink Stumps Day barbecues and everyone has enjoyed raising money for such a good cause.
“We are inviting friends, family and the local community to join us for Pink Stumps Day and get involved with lots of fun activities.”
