A total of 24 teams signed up for the fun relay which is not a race in terms of the fastest up the pool.
The relay is held annually as the club’s major fundraiser and this year was another outstanding event.
About $2500 was raised through the event, which will go towards purchasing a hot water system for the club’s shed and providing facilities for club members and the community.
True to tradition, it was another new team who took out the winner’s accolade with the St Mary’s Fairies team of Eleanor Kembrey, Charlotte Heaton, Holly Hayes, Harrison Clydsdale, Ethan Paine and Harry Schumaker being crowned the winners.
Second place went to Rose and Partners Intangibles and third was Scone Grammar 3, with the best dressed team going to the Austin Animals team of Kristina and Ashleigh Wright, Darcy Pittman, Indyana Taylor, Phoebe Weatherley and Matilda Jones.
The six fastest male and female swimmers also battled it out in a swim off with the leading male being Clinton Whitehead and the winning female being Ebony Taylor.
Scone Swimming Club vice president Katherine Meier said throughout the 10 years no one team has won the event twice, which was continued again this year.
Meier said this year was a first in that it wasn’t cold or raining, the weather was fantastic and so was the spirit.
“The weather was beautiful and the evening had such a good feel to it, the real party atmosphere was just great,” she said.
“It was close to one of the biggest events we have had with four even heats.”
Meier thanked Veronica and Gary for doing the recording, as they couldn’t run the event without their help every year, and everyone else who helped out.
The club started the end of year championships last night, which will wrap up a very successful swimming season with lots of new members welcomed to the club.
