The junior cricket committee, led by four women – Fiona Tickle, Marion Leggett, Catherine Henry and Melinda Jordan – held the fundraiser at Jack Walker Oval in Aberdeen while the club’s under 10s and under 12s teams played. 

In the past few weeks, the club also held fundraising days to coincide with the under 14s and under 16s teams. 

On Saturday, the under 10s team played Muswellbrook and the under 12s played Scone Wanderers in excellent cricket conditions. 

The games were complimented by a barbecue, raffle and cake stall with pink merchandise aplenty. 

Being an ongoing fundraiser, the club also has donation boxes spread in various locations around town. 

Aberdeen Junior Cricket Club president Fiona Tickle said they had set a fundraising target of $500 and they will definitely reach that goal. 

She said the Pink Stumps Day was an important initiative, especially as they like to promote girls in the club.

“We currently have about 13 female players in the club, which is great,” she said. 

Tickle thanked all the local businesses and parents who cooked or donated items for the fundraisers.
