A fine evening of history, food, beverages and entertainment is on offer for all people wishing to commemorate the Centenary of Anzac.
This is the only major event being held in Scone to commemorate the 100 years of Anzac.
The Scone RSL Sub-branch is organising the gala Black Tie Dinner to be held in the Pays Air Service War Bird Museum on Saturday, April 11 at 7pm.
The museum will be transformed into an Army escape for the evening featuring two serviceable World War II fighters – a Mustang and a Kittyhawk, as well as camouflaged nets, army tents and more.
The red carpet event of Scone is planned to be a fantastic evening to remember the sacrifices those soldiers made for this country all those years ago.
The formal sit down dinner will be complimented with entertainment by the popular Raz ‘n’ Tash, with students from Scone High School coordinating the light show.
Scone RSL Sub-branch president Val Quinell said ticket sales are going well, but he reminded people to get in and purchase a ticket or book a table soon to ensure their spot at the event.
Mr Quinell said the guest speaker for the event will be RSL Hunter Valley District Council president Brian Boughton from Newcastle, who is also an ex-vietnam veteran and was once the Governor General’s aid.
“Another feature of the evening will be the lone piper who will be elevated to perform to the guests.
“There will also be an avenue of aeroplanes on show outside the hangar for people to admire on their way in,” he said.
Mr Quinell said any excess money that is raised from the event will be donated straight to Legacy, as the sub-branch continually supports the local Legacy group.
