As a resident of Murrurundi and the chair of the Murrurundi Community Leader’s Forum, I was thrilled to be present at the announcement by the NSW Minister for Natural Resources, Lands and Water Kevin Humphries of $11,543,00 of funding towards the pipeline from Scone to Murrurundi.

This will now guarantee the secure water future of Murrurundi!
I began working with the Upper Hunter Shire Council on securing Murrurundi’s water supply when Daryl Dutton was the general manager.
What really got us all focused was the ‘water crisis’ in February 2014.
I am pleased to say that the Upper Hunter Shire Council and particularly the mayor Michael Johnsen, the new general manager Waid Crockett, a few councillors and shire council staff all swung swiftly into action and threw every resource they could into helping Murrurundi get through that crisis.
Michael Johnsen and myself were in constant contact during this period to ensure that what happened on the ground really worked to even personally handing out bottled water to our residents.
What a relief to know with certainty that within in a few years we will never have to face such a situation again thanks to the recent announcement by the ‘Minister for Water’!
