In a setting that created the sense of army and remembrance, more than 120 people gathered to commemorate the 100 years of ANZAC in a once in a lifetime event in Scone.
The event was organised by the Scone RSL Sub-branch to mark the extremely important milestone in war history and the history of the nation at large.
The venue, Pays Air Service War Bird Museum, was an absolute picture draped with army canopies and featuring historic aircraft, which was coupled with great food and entertainment by Razz, Tash and Mick.
Scone RSL Sub-branch president Val Quinell said the sub-branch were absolutely thrilled with the event and everyone had a fantastic night.
“It was just unbelievable, the hangar looked brilliant and we were really happy with the whole event,” he said.
Mr Quinell paid tribute to the members of Scone Aero Club who served the refreshments and the fantastic food by The Hunted Gourmet.
He said the music was magnificent with the right songs for the mood, and said the acoustics were just incredible within the hangar.
“We had The Last Post, The Ode and Reveille played at about 9pm and then we staged Dr Paradice and Mr Brideoake (pictured left) in the spotlight on centre stage for the rendition of ‘Waltzing Matilda’, which was very moving.”
Mr Quinell thanked everyone involved in organising and taking part in the event, as he said it was a ‘once in a lifetime’ event and was absolutely fantastic.
