The St Joseph’s Aberdeen student competed at the National All-Schools Triathlon Championships yesterday after qualifying through her third place performance at state.
Yesterday’s effort has made Hollingsworth the second fastest triathlete in the junior division in Australia.
Each triathlete completed a 400 metre swim, 10 kilometre ride and three kilometre run.
Hollingsworth’s coach Nicky Western said she was extremely proud of Chloe’s achievement.
“Having not got out of the water in the lead, Chloe's bike skills took her up into first, followed closely by a Queensland athlete.
“They cycled the second lap almost together, but Chloe could not quite hold onto her lead on the run,” Western said.
“Chloe finished second by only eight seconds.
“It was an outstanding effort.”
