The Under 12s, 13s and 14s Country Championships will be held at Armidale this weekend with Scone Junior Rugby having 12 players on representative duty.
Will Warner, Hayden Bull, Edward Arnott, Lachlan Park and Lachlan McClean will represent in the Under 12s, Nick Baker, Edward Bell and Tom Campbell representing in the 13s and Matt Smart (captain), Conor Edwards, Laynne McKinnon and Sam Campbell representing in the 14s.
Scone Junior Rugby Union Club president Michelle Edwards said it is great to see so many Scone players being selected into these representative teams.
“It just shows how strong our club and players are,” she said.
“This will be a great experience for our younger players and the Under 14 players have the opportunity to be selected for the NSW Country Under 14 squad.”
At last weekend’s Under 18s Country Championships Scone Rugby’s Will Bowcock and Luke Porter gained selection into the Under 18s NSW Country squad.
Luke Duncan came away with the most improved medal and Luke Porter with the best forward award for Central North.
The Central North team finished third in the Championships and had 10 players in total make the country squad.
“This is an absolutely brilliant effort by the Central North boys to get so many players into the country squad and this is the first time we have had so many players selected,” Edwards said.
Scone Junior Rugby wish their young charges all the best for the weekend.
