The iconic building is a picture many would be able to draw to mind, but do they have some evidence to support their memories.
The Scone Advocate is calling out to all residents who might have any photographs of the original Civic Theatre, back in its prime days.
The owners of the historic heritage building, the Coroneo family, are working with one of Scone’s leading local builders to revitalilse the theatre back to its original glory.
The family is seeking the support of the Scone community to ensure it is restored as close as possible to its original décor.
People can take part in the restoration project by submitting photos to give the builder an idea of the colour themes and styles of the building.
Work is set to start soon on the exterior of the building to restore it back to its original look.
Anyone with photos dating back to around 1938 when the theatre was built are invited to submit them into a competition, with $200 each up for grabs.
The owners are holding a rewarding competition for photos to be submitted to The Scone Advocate in the following categories:
o Coloured photos of the front façade taken around 1938.
o Interior and exterior coloured photos of the building.
o Black and white photos of the interior and exterior.
Five prizes worth $200 each will be awarded to the top photographs.
The owners are also seeking photos of the cinema and theatre emblem that was engraved into the front footpath leading into the cinema.
All photos will be stored safely and returned to their owners.
To submit a photo, post it to The Scone Advocate, PO Box 12, Scone NSW 2337 or drop it into our office in Kelly Street, Scone.
Entries must be submitted by September 30, 2015.
