Children at the Scone and District Pre-School are spoilt for choice when it comes to outdoor fun and equipment and it’s all thanks to the local community.

In the past three years, the enthusiastic and hard working pre-school committee have managed to raise more than $27,200 in the local area, and the group of mums would like to sincerely thank all involved.
From the committee members, parents and staff to local businesses and the community, the effort has been impressive.
The children now have a revamped backyard at the pre-school complete with a digging patch, tyre sand pits, a campsite, brand new play equipment, a veggie garden and green houses, all connected by a path they can ride bikes and other equipment on.
What is even more exciting is that in the near future they plan to create mud kitchens with the help of the Upper Hunter Men’s Shed and music walls adding to the outdoor experience and providing opportunities for the youngsters to engage with the environment.
The improvements were carried out by committee members and parents during three working bees, but they wouldn’t have been possible without the support of local people digging deep.
All the committee’s fundraising initiatives, including the bi-annual art show, ‘Mini Scones’ cookbook, cake stalls, raffles and the majorly successful Monster Sale held on the weekend, have been strongly supported.
Scone and District Pre-School committee president Louise Moir said the teachers gave the committee a few ideas of what they wanted for the children and they set to work fundraising to make these wishes a reality.
“We want to show businesses and individuals what we have achieved and what they have contributed to.
“Any money we raise is spent at the pre-school for the children,” she said.
“We also want to really thank them for their continued support.
“Being a not for profit pre-school we rely on the community for their support and we want them to see what they have helped achieve.”
About $1500 was raised on Saturday at the Monster Sale, which Mrs Moir said was an excellent result.
