With a good set of results for our senior teams with all but the Under 12s coming away with victories, the club looks strong heading into the business end of the season.
The Under 16s, with only four teams in this division, are assured of a semi spot but reports from the weekend say they are real title contenders with a sweet victory over Greta Branxton.
With the forwards playing tight and tough it allowed the classy backs some room to move.
This week sees the 16s at home at 10am against Morpeth, who sit second on the table so this should be a cracker.
The Under 15s, who are starting to find form after a slower than usual start after knocking off ladder leaders West Maitland last week and putting Thornton away on the weekend , must continue the good work against Central Charlestown this weekend.
This side is star studded, but they must remember to play as a team and I’m sure the thought of back to back titles isn’t just a dream.
The Under 14s again put Muswellbrook away on the weekend to remain in top spot on the ladder, but this week will be their first real test leading into the semis playing team two, East Maitland, away this weekend.
This side has never been overflowing with players, but what they have is real team belief and the will to win.
The Under 13s are another that were placed into Division One this year and are now feeling comfortable after a few nice victories.
Sitting in second position they had a nice win over Cessnock on the weekend, but now take on West Maitland who are sitting in fourth.
This is another side with an abundance of talent and are enjoying the challenge of Division One football each week.
The Under 12s were unlucky not to win on Saturday in a hard fought game against Cessnock.
With silly mistakes a key, this side is a real chance for grand final honours if they regroup and listen at training.
They will have a fired up Denman side this week to contend with, but I am sure that if this side hits their straps they will start climbing the ladder quickly.
This side is also in Division One and has enjoyed the tough football week in week out. The two Under 11s sides had mixed results on the weekend with a hard fought victory for the Whites against an improving Rams outfit.
It took some hard running and great defensive work on their line to hold out and take the two points.
The Blues had a top of the table clash with Aberdeen and had to settle for an 18 all draw.
With Aberdeen taking a nice lead it was a team effort to claw back and snatch a point each for the ladder.
This is a tight race with the ladder having Scone Blue on top, Aberdeen a point away in second and Scone White another point behind in third.
These three sides did battle last year for the premiership and it looks the same again this year.
The Under 10s sides are in scintillating form with a tight Scone White verse Scone Blue game on Saturday.
With the White’s getting the points in the end the Blue’s can be proud of their efforts and reminded the White’s they will not lay down.
Pleasing for the club is that these two sides sit one and two on the ladder.
A great effort from all associated with these teams.
So, with two rounds left it will be action a plenty as everyone chases the finals glory.
A reminder that in two weeks, on August 8, the final round will be at Scone Park with all sides except the 12s at home.
It will certainly be a day not to be missed.
Our mini and mods also have a few weeks to go finishing on September 5, as they play round robin football right to the grand final day in Merriwa.
The club was saddened to hear the loss of Iris Clarke, wife of Thoroughbred stalwart and tremendous community member Jim Clarke.
It was touching to see the players wear black armbands as a mark of respect and before the Under 12s - a minute silence was observed.
