This game was a close match until a few referee calls swung the game away from the boys and they couldn’t close the gap.
This team have hung in all year and the club wishes them well when they move to senior rugby league next year.
The Hunter Recycling Under 15s fell just short of victory after being run down in the second half. After holding a slight half time advantage the boys couldn’t hold out to the final bell.
With a stop start season these boys certainly showed many of the much fancied Newcastle sides they were not here to make up the numbers.
The Jeff Towler Under 14s bounded out of the blocks to take an early lead, but were hampered by a rising toll of injuries and were also ran down on the bell by Muswellbrook.
Henry Hall was a standout performer taking the ball forward all day and pulled off some bruising tackles.
In the mod league the Scone Legal Under 11 Whites took on a determined Aberdeen, with the Whites wanting to join the Scone Blues in this week’s grand final.
This game was the best of the day with it going to golden point after the scores were locked at 18 all at the end of regular time.

These boys now go into this week’s grand final against Scone White – a tremendous result for our club as it shows the strength of our junior sides.
So, the attention now turns to Merriwa Oval this Saturday for the grand finals and Scone will be represented in two games.
As mentioned the Under 10s will be an all Scone affair with the Whites battling Scone Blue.
This may never be seen for a long time – two sides from the one club playing in a grand final.
Straight after the Under 11s Blues will be taking on Aberdeen in what will be a bruising encounter.
These two sides have battled it out all year and with the Blues taking victory after the final hooter in the major semi, this is a game that will be a slugfest.
Good luck to all teams in the grand finals and a reminder to all parents the presentation day will be held on Saturday, September 12 at the Scone Sporties kicking off at 10.30am.
