I experienced a sense of shock when I saw the signs recently on the Library building: “Construction Zone.. Do Not Enter”.

Despite the lack of transparency by the council I had learned of the sale when our yoga class, that used one of the rooms, was told that it was no longer available.
This yoga class was only one of the many groups that utilised the building as pointed out by Bev Atkinson and now of course there do not seem to be many suitable alternative venues.
I heartily endorse the comments made recently in The Scone Advocate re the ‘secret sale’ of the Scone Community Library and associated services building.
I am not only an avid reader but I also believe, unlike Councillor Ron Campbell, that the reading of books is not a lost or dying art.
Reading is a vital part of anyone’s education and it was with great sorrow that I was shown how the children’s’ section of the library would now be reduced as business interests of Jason Brooks pull down walls and enlarge their footprint.
And this was at a time when Children’s Book Week was a feature at the library and many school classes were visiting.
The whole process of the sale seems to me to be a possible candidate for an enquiry as due process was not followed; the meeting was secret, the residents were not informed and public announcement was not made until very recently.
It smacks of some form of bias or at least opportunism as the council desperately tries to retain its power.
I am disappointed that all councillors voted for this sale and hope they can justify it at the next elections, which cannot come soon enough.
