Aberdeen’s Edan Tickle and Jake Duffin will be joined by Nathan Connor from Muswellbrook to represent the Upper Hunter in the winter tour to the Caribbean and California.
The 16-year-olds all play cricket for the Aberdeen club as Tickle and Duffin play in the Aberdeen Under 16s team and first grade team, and Connor plays in the senior grades as well.
The boys were invited to play in the junior team by Wanderers Australia, along with other players from across Australia.
Being the first time to gain such a selection into a national tour squad, the boys are all very excited to have been picked.
The boys will spend about three weeks on tour where they will play up to eight games, about six in Barbados and two in Los Angeles against top school, club and representative teams.
As well as the cricket, the youngsters will have the chance to enjoy some of the highlights of the international countries, including swimming with turtles in the wild, visiting Disneyland, attending a major league baseball game and touring Universal Studios and Hollywood.
Duffin, who is an all-round player and has been playing for Aberdeen since the Under 10s, said he is really looking forward to the tour as he believes it will be a good opportunity to learn more and enhance his skills.
He said he also feels privileged to be able to gain coaching from a former West Indies player and the head of cricket at Scots College in Sydney.
