In the past the students have always had to borrow the local football club’s jumpers to wear in representative matches against other schools, but thanks to the generosity of local sporting clubs they now have their own.
The purchase of the Aberdeen themed jumpers was made possible by donations from the Aberdeen Old Boys, Aberdeen Senior Rugby League Club, Aberdeen Junior Rugby League Club and the Deen City Club, as well as a contribution from the school.
The jumpers will be widely used by students from the Under 7s through to the Under 12s, both boys and girls, when they represent the school.
The P&C Association project is one that has been positively welcomed by the students, parents and school principal Michelle Floyd.
P&C Association member Jodie Mayall said the jumpers were something the P&C thought the children needed, but they couldn’t quite afford on their own so they were really grateful to the community groups for the extra support.
“Almost half the cost was donated by the groups and we really appreciate the support,” she said.
Aberdeen Junior Rugby League treasurer Amanda Brugnatti said the club was pleased to be able to support the children and school with a $250 donation.
“We were happy to help the school out and they are a feeder for us too,” she said.
“It benefits us and benefits the students as well.”
