Despite only being introduced this year, Viva 7s has already gained a strong following from players of all ages and backgrounds.
“We have been lucky enough in Scone to be one of the first of a number of clubs to roll out the game, and it has been a huge success,” organiser Martin Feehan said.
“After only two rounds, the new game seems to be gaining lots of momentum.
“[It’s] great to see such a mix playing, with young and old making up the vast majority of teams.
“It’s a fantastic game for families due to the non-contact nature of the game.
“As this is the first year, we have run a five-week competition but are looking to extend it to a longer eight-week competition next year.”
The last round and next week’s are being played at the rugby league ground due to a function.
However, the final two rounds will be played at Brumbie Park.
A full barbecue and refreshments are available from the bar at both venues.
Viva 7s has been heavily supported by the Australian Rugby Union.
Rules include being given seven touches to score, players must pass to a teammate or perform a ball place once touched, a quick throw back in takes place when the ball goes over the sideline, and kicking is allowed in general play.
