They have also been battling the elements. First it was the wet weather, then the hot conditions came.
With two nights cancelled due to the wet weather it was good to see so many athletes and their parents turn up for some modified events on Friday.
The club was fortunate to receive a donation from the Aberdeen Old Boys, which will go towards the cost of replacing the a 22-year-old multi stopwatch.
Shane Lloyd, representing Aberdeen Old Boys, was on hand to pass over the cheque.
In the Tots, Annika and Elliot Stafa, as well as Harper Hoogerwerf, Grace Partridge, Memphis Hinschen and Sammy Dixon all had fun in the egg and spoon race and the water event, which kept them cool.
They also had a fun run, a bean bag shot put event and played with the parachute.
Many thanks to those parents who assisted these athletes. In the older age groups, many athletes recorded personal bests.
Under-6s’ Thomas Roughan and Jazmine McLeod competed well and improved on their previous results.
In the under-7s, Ava Roughan, Kelsea Robinson and Emity Croft showed improvement.
Under-8s’ Ziggy Turner had a better time in his 200m event, while under- 9s’ Non Dixon improved in both 70m and 200m.
In the under-10s, Phoenix McLeod improved in both 70m and discus, and under-11s competitor Jakob Johnson had a great jump in the high jump with a Personal Best (PB).
The under-12s saw Tommy Dixon improve in 100m, discus and high jump, while under-13s athlete Ella Sinclair improved in both the 200m and discus.
In the under- 15s, Kate Lloyd had PBs in shot put, 100m and triple jump.
In the Open Women, Jeannie Seymour also had a PB in the triple jump.
Many thanks to all those parents who assisted on the night and made sure all athletes were in the shade wherever possible and made sure they kept up their fluid intake.
Hopefully the weather will be kinder this Friday.
