Crews were called to fires on Pikes Gully Road at Liddell, Denman Road near Denman and Moobi Road west of Scone.
Edinglassie One and Mangoola One brigades were called to the “Piercefield” property on the Denman Road, about 9km from Denman township.
Spokesman with Hunter Valley Zone RFS, Keith Lobb, said the blaze was quickly contained, burning about one hectare.
“There was some issue with power lines at the location, but the crews did a good job to bring the fire under control in a short space of time in the difficult conditions,” he said.
On the Moobi Road, just out of Scone, two separate fires were reported as winds picked up.
Temperatures soared across the region, with Scone and Singleton each recording a maximum of 40 degrees Celsius on Thursday; Merriwa 39; Jerrys Plains 37; and Murrurundi 34.
Wind gusts were fierce across the day, with the Bureau of Meteorology recording the highest wind gust in the region of 95km/h at Murrurundi Gap at 1.35pm.
Scone Airport wasn't far behind, recording 70km/h at 2.19pm and Merriwa 65km/h at 12.27pm.
The Bureau has issued a fire weather warning for Friday, November 27 for four NSW fire districts, including the Greater Hunter.
BoM is forecasting a Severe Fire Danger, saying it is expecting hot, dry and gusty west to north-westerly winds will persist ahead of a south-westerly change.
