“Already, many people are calling in to use the services of secretarial support, resume writing and booking into computer trainings,” she said.
“We were honoured to receive the 2016 Community Group award for Scone District at the Australia Day Awards, especially when positioned against such other worthy and outstanding services in Scone.
“This week our fundraising group will meet and plan ways to raise funds for the service to relocate.
“Keep an eye out for activities and support your neighbourhood centre by joining in at events.
“Preparation is underway for a Charity Bowls Day and Golf Day.”
Scone Library and the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre will join forces again next month to host Harmony Day at the Scone Grammar School on Wednesday, March 23.
“If you are from Australia or another country, please join us at the table for a world of food,” Mrs Watts said.
“You can register the dish you would like to bring, by selecting Harmony Day on our website.”
Virtual Shed project officer Belinda McKenzie said 2016 offered many opportunities for rural men to participate in social activities.
“For March, activities include a choice of Quad Bike King Shipwreck Tour or to visit Fighter world,” she said.
“Inspirational speaker Darren Flannigan who presents on topics in the risk management fields has been invited to Scone in September.
“Darren was one of the heroes of the Beaconsfield Mine rescue.”
Meanwhile, Seniors Week will this year fall in April.
“We have planned a comprehensive list of computer classes from an Introduction to Computers or iPad and understanding what an app is,” Mrs Watts said.
“A training brochure is available at reception.
“There are so many activities already identified this year and we hope the community will join us at our annual Neighbourhood Centre BBQ in May and the Family Fun Day, in partnership with Family Insight, planned for September.
“As the weather heats up towards the end of 2016, family-friendly movies will again be held at Scone Park.”
“With the success of Christmas in the Park in 2015, we look forward to providing another jam-packed afternoon of market stalls and entertainment in Elizabeth Park in 2016,” event organiser Jaala Presland added.
“Our ongoing services such as Trainlink ticketing, motorised scooter maintenance and computer use are all still available and staff are always available to answer your questions or direct you to the appropriate agency for help.”
