It also acknowledged the establishment of Middlebrook airfield by Alick Henderson in 1957.
The first planes to land on the airstrip were three Tiger Moths from Aerial Agriculture at Bankstown.
The Scone Advocate reported on January 8, 2004, that more than 85 people and 20 aircraft, from as far away as Winton in Queensland and Armidale, attended the celebrations.
The plaque was dedicated by Dave Hall, a retired Flying Officer, RAAF No 1 Squadron Mosquito Attack - 1942 to 1946.
Mr Hill saw service in Borneo during WWII, and had the rare honour of receiving his pilots wings from his father, who flew with Sir Charles Kingsford Smith.
Also in attendance at the celebration were Ray Windred and Lance Fletcher from Windair Luskintyre.
Mr Windred previously restored a number of Tigers Moths, and began his work in Scone.
