Mr Johnsen said having drinking water available at such an important recreational destination and community asset was a positive thing for the region.
“The entire holiday experience for families and visitors to Lake Glenbawn is now significantly improved because drinkable water to Australian standards is now on tap at the park,” he said.
“Lake Glenbawn is one of our most loved and used local parks, and this water treatment plant means the park now has the capacity, resources and asset management skills available to ensure they are sustainable into the future.”
NSW Department of Industry and NSW Crown Holiday Parks Trust (CHPT) jointly managed the installation of the $600,000 water treatment plant at Lake Glenbawn.
This is part of a $12 million program funded by the Government’s Public Reserves Management Fund to upgrade and renew utilities at the Inland Waters Holiday Parks managed by NSW Crown Holiday Parks.
Mr Edmonds said the team at Lake Glenbawn was excited to now offer drinking water and improve guest experiences.
“Almost $1 million has been spent on Lake Glenbawn for the new water treatment plant and important electrical upgrades, with sewer improvements to happen later in the year,” he said.
Adding power, sewerage and water of this standard to the Trust’s inland parks is important to providing improved services to park visitors, whilst retaining the outdoors experience.”
NSWCHPT was formed in 2013 to consolidate the operations of 35 coastal and inland holiday parks and a number of reserves located on Crown land throughout NSW in some of the state’s most iconic locations.
NSWCHPT incorporates Inland Waters Holiday Parks, North Coast Holiday Parks and South Coast Holiday Parks.
“This water treatment plant provides fresh, potable water previously not available for guests to our local park and is just one example of the NSW Government’s absolute commitment to rural and regional NSW,” Mr Johnsen said.
