Mrs Watts said she was very excited to see to the community’s support at the first of many fundraisers planned.
“The SNRC is hosting a series of fundraisers as a part of their ‘Moving Neighbourhoods’ project to raise money to purchase a property that will see the centre continue to grow and offer this community all the programs and services they deserve,” she said.
“Barefoot bowls was the first – and it was so great to see so many people so supportive in our cause that raised a bit over $1500 last night.
“Everyone had a great time whether they were a learner or experienced bowler.
“Team Dazza were the winners on the night.
“The crowd was wowed and entertained by Baihe and the Vocal Art Studio.”
Mrs Watts expressed her gratitude to many people.
“A huge thank you goes to the Scone RSL who organised the event with direction on the greens, and donated and cooked the barbecue,” she said.
“There were a number of organisations that donated to the night - Cressfield Stud, Newcastle Knights, Aberdeen Men’s Shed, Anne Watson, Lucks Premium Cuts, Colonial Motel, Nancy Raichel, Pharmasave, Equine Specialist Consultants, Australian Stock Horse Society, Scone and Upper Hunter Horse Festival, Celebrations and Rachel’s Hair & Beauty.
“It takes numerous people to make sure an event runs smoothly and a big call out goes out to all those helpers on the night.”
Julie Collins, from the Wellness Centre in Scone, said they had a terrific time.
“Thanks for organising a great unique event,” she said.
Mrs Watts said a lot of other activities were on the horizon.
“There will be many small fundraisers, 100 clubs and raffles before we make it to our goal,” she said.
“But, the staff is now working on a Skills Auction.
“Pledges for that night are coming in with a tour of Cressfield Stud during breeding season from Wayne Bedggood, Tony Windsor will be cooking a gourmet barbecue for six, Alan Gordon has donated a joy flight, there are pews from the old council chamber, and the Scone RSL has pledged a keg and set up.”
The list is available on the website at www.snrc.com.au and will all go under the hammer on Saturday, November 12, at the Scone RSL.
