The Cauliflower Club Junior Rugby Charity Challenge attracts hundreds of players, who compete for the Cauliflower Shield (Under 8s), Bowl (Under 10s), Plate (Under 12s) and Cup (Under 14s).
The Cauliflower Club was established in 2012 by Peter Fitzsimons (president) and Nick Farr-Jones (vice president).
It is a rugby based charity committed to providing sporting and recreational equipment to enhance the lives of those with a disability, with a bias towards sporting related injuries.
Heavy rain in recent days threatened to create problems with this year’s schedule, but local organisers praised Upper Hunter Shire Council for its cooperation as matches still came thick and fast at Bill Rose Sports Complex.
Clubs taking part included Scone, Maitland, Chatswood, Ourimbah, Lake Macquarie, Merewether, Warnervale, Avoca, and Barraba.
A Game Day raffle also offered a market stall hamper (first prize), twice baked cup cakes and Victoria’s Hair gift pack (second prize), and a Scone Sports Store rebound ball (third prize). A Wood Raffle saw the winner receive a trailer load of chopped wood.
