Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre (SNRC) manager Lee Watts asked the question while calling on the community to help raise awareness of homelessness.

The centre has joined forces with Upper Hunter Homeless Service to organise a free barbecue at 130 Liverpool Street, Scone, on Friday, August 5 from 11am.

“While most of us are fortunate enough to enjoy a warm house, there are individuals and families struggling to keep warm or fed,” Mrs Watts said.

“There are homeless people sleeping in our parks or living in their cars and it is these people we try to support through our services.

“Tenants make up a high percentage of our community and Upper Hunter Homeless service may be able to assist tenants with tenancy questions about maintenance or leases.

“The community is invited to have a chat or if you would like to drop donate a warm blanket or nonperishable food items they will be appreciated.

“There will also be new hand knitted beanies and jumpers that have been donated and dignity bags distributed on the day.”
